International Congress in Dhulikhel

Dr. Kerr had the honor of being invited as a guest speaker at the First International Congress of the German Nepal Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology held 10-12 October 2017 at Dhulikhel Hospital, Kathmandu University Hospital, Kavre, Nepal. This was one in long chain of collaborations of Dr. Kerr and Dr. Hauswald, The University of New Mexico and the Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences. She presented the lecture “Circumferential Abdominal Pelvic Pressure for Obstetric Hemorrhage” which described current medical devices used for obstetric hemorrhage and detailed the development of the Mama Saver Ball and Binder. The prototype for the Ball and Binder was the CAPP device, which carried out its initial study in Kavre with support of a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2010 through 2012.

She also conducted a workshop on the use of the Mama Saver Ball and Binder, where participants practiced placing the device on healthy non-pregnant volunteers.
