Announcing the Launch of the UK–Zimbabwe Health Partnerships Pilot (UKZHPP) Programme

We are pleased to introduce the UK–Zimbabwe Health Partnerships Pilot (UKZHPP) programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) Zimbabwe.

The Programme

Funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) Zimbabwe, the UKZHPP programme will facilitate collaboration between the Zimbabwe and the UK to address key national priorities within Zimbabwe’s health sector by strengthening health workforce capacity and capability. in partnership with a range of stakeholders.  

The programme has awarded six grants to partnerships between Zimbabwean and UK organisations, all focused on enhancing Zimbabwe’s health system while ensuring bidirectional learning for both countries. The priority areas identified by the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) include: 

  • Planning and Finance 
  • Production, Training and Development 
  • Migration and Retention 
  • Deployment, Utilisation and Governance 
  • Monitoring & Evaluation, ICT, and Research 

The projects will run for one year, commencing in December 2024 and concluding in November 2025. 

Strengthening Partnerships

GHP has welcomed both new and existing collaborations between Zimbabwe and UK health institutions, providing support to enhance capacity building and drive sustainable improvements. 

Funded Partnerships

The programme has awarded grants to the following six partnerships: 

  1. Association of Breast Surgery (ABS) & United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) 
  2. Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust & Luisa Guidotti Hospital 
  3. East London NHS Foundation Trust & Ingutsheni Hospital 
  4. Zimbabwe Life Project (ZLP) & Health Services Commission (HSC) 
  5. Zimbabwe Midwives and Nurses Association UK (ZIMNA-UK) & Zimbabwe Nursing & Midwifery Directorate (ZNMS) 
  6. Coventry University & Midlands State University

These partnerships will play a key role in strengthening healthcare delivery and workforce development, reinforcing long-term collaboration between the Zimbabwe and UK.
